I don’t pack 2 pairs/day, but if I’m away for a week (and lets say I won’t have access to laundry) I’ll probably end up bringing 10 pairs of underwear for a 7 day trip. It’ll be similar with socks since they’re unpleasant to wear when wet.

Luckil y, I can do most trips now with a carry-on since Airbnbs usually have laundry facilities.

Socks? Two pairs per day for me - dress socks for work, athletic socks for down time. If I’m not traveling for work, I’ll do what you do for socks.

I bring some tide pods and just wash them in the sink or the washer if available.

Pretty much all of my travel over the past several years has been for leisure, so whatever socks I put on at the beginning of the day stay on until the end of day, unless I’m somewhere where socks aren’t necessary (like beaches).

I typically pack 1-2 extra pairs of socks and underwear depending on how long the trip is going to be. I typically also pack at least one extra shirt.

Pants on the other hand I fully plan to wear multiple days and may pack 3-4 pair for a week trip.

It sounds normal to you but in my life I’ve never thought to bring my own detergent. Not a bad idea.

I agree, I try to pack more neutral colours so that I can mix and match shirts/trousers, but you definitely don’t need a new shirt and trousers for every single day of travel.

I’ll pack @4, much more compact than 10 pairs of underwear

My bag for work day trips has a baggie with extra socks and underwear and sometimes I add a second pair if it’s supposed to rain. I haven’t been stranded overnight that often but once was enough.

Longer trips I’ll usually bring a few extras, especially if I might change a few times a day (like the beach, or if I plan on running or skiing or something). Also I am weirdly phobic about walking on hotel carpet with bare feet so I pack extra socks specifically to avoid that.

Most of the hotels I’ve stayed at have a washer and dryer. When I have to stay longer than expected, I make use of the facilities.

Underwear I just pack however many pairs I need for the trip (unless I anticipate access to a washer in which case I’ll pack less). With underwear I figure if any get unwearable for any reason it’s not the end of the world to rewear ones that haven’t been “stressed” much. Can always sink wash in the worst case.
